92.5 The River seems formatted tighter lately

I still like the station for new music and its variety, but not sure when it started sounding like someone new was programming it. Lots more "hits" played numerous times daily and less straying off the standards I hear on other AAA stations. I even heard A-ha's "Take On Me" and had to check if I was still on the same station.

It reminds me of when Granum purchased WBOS from Noble back in '92. The stations format became much streamlined, including, but not limited to playing "Dance Hall Days"-Wang Chung.

However, the most notable change came when they decided to take on Barry Scott's show. WZLX had dropped the Lost 45's, reportedly because the songs that Barry Scott played, were too much similar to what WBMX had decided to do.

But I digress!...

October ratings show WXRV highest ever?

Only seeing 6+ ratings.. but WXRV is beating Mix 104.1, WBOS, Hot 96.9, among others. Tight formatting yielding ratings benefit ? Along with strategic translator placement..

Not the only Northeast AAA deviating from traditional ideas about the format. WNCS does a daily one-hit wonders feature, and last Wednesday's entry was Haddaway's "What is Love." Sure as heck ain't the Indigo Girls.
