Perhaps the most bizarre radio resurrection case in modern history. The original license (KROQ-AM) was yanked in the early 80's, and there have been numerous battles before the FCC to get 15~Hundred back on the air. Things looked promising with an application to broadcast from Montecito Heights, but that didn't happen. In late October a minor modification was submitted to put the towers near the 405 and Marina Freeway. Now, looks like time has run out on KWIF's construction permit, and the numerous reasons why the licensee doesn't have it on the air. And to think all of this began when Ed Stolz (yup) was the first operator awarded a CP to put 15~Hundred back on the air. He failed. Others followed and failed as well.

Another AM station dies.
There is still recourse by the CP holder. They can appeal the decision and demonstrate that obstructive or tedious zoning rules have prevented construction in a manner that could not be controlled. It depends on, first, if the CP holder really wants to build this facility and, second, if they can document a good-faith effort to build.
Entirely possible, but a strong case can be made that the licensee has NOT demonstrated a good faith effort to put 15~Hundred on the air. Three different tower locations (the last being rather questionable) and multiple interference objections. Each move resulted in further power reductions, with the last being 400w days and 170w nights. The licensee used Covid 19 as an excuse for not having the station on the air. The Commission emphatically shot that one down in their ruling.
