Craig Carton on WEEI

Carton spent years lampooning others on the radio (I'll admit - I loved his Suzyn Waldman impersonations). When the tables are turned, he apparently is a whiny little you-know-what.

Did he ever poke fun at Waldman's cancer ordeals? I hope not. The problem with what Fauria did was not only did he refer to a deadly serious part of Carton's life, he did so during a guest appearance on a fundraiser for a charity.

I've never listened to him though I of course heard of his travails. I don't think his kind of angry-content would work in most sports station formats but Lou Merloni isn't the type to put up with it, for sure. Ordway may listen briefly but not go for it either. Dumb thing to do.
Pre-show he should have said we don't talk about my criminal record, 'right guys.'

Embarrassing. These a-holes (on both sides) couldn't even make a charity event happen without getting testy.

I don't want to be in radio badly enough to work for Entercom.

Fauria asking if conjugal visits were allowed is fairly benign to me. Carton comes across as incredibly thin skinned. Maybe next time not steal millions of dollars from people, he did it, he was found guilty, it's now part of his permanent record.

I'm cynical enough to believe that this whole thing was a planned "bit" to help blow a little hot air into WEEI's baloon.
Possibly. Publicity stunts like this are kind of useless though because if people tune in because of the publicity it’s unlikely they are going to stick around after they hear the product. EEI is just not that compelling. There is a reason why The Sports Hub is a Top 10 biller nationally. It does a great job with the format. There is also a reason why Greg Hill was on morning drive for years was never #1 in the demo aside from one book which was probably a fluke. He offers no insight on sports and has the most tired, boring, predictable takes. His political takes are brutal also. Even if you lean conservative like he does, it’s just the same talking points over and over. Wiggy is entertaining but it’s a lot of shtick just playing the predictable contrarian. He was trained well in the fictional world of FM morning radio, so he knows how to play his role but it’s the same thing over and over. (Take the opposite opinion to stir some debate).

The afternoon show is just sort of there. Two guys talking loud and then Ordway. Felger and Mazz is a better show so there is no reason to listen to EEI.
