Suggestion For David's Archive Site

I haven't checked lately to see if it's already there, but David should put an archive for the World Radio and Television Handbook on worldradiohistory.com. It often has abbreviated lists of US stations, but it is concise, especially the North American AM BC by frequency list.

I have corresponded with the publisher of WRH, and they will not permit the use of even the oldest issues of the publication. They have a CD-ROM that sells for over $150, but otherwise the materials are not available anywhere.

You have to wonder how many of these more than $150.00 CD-ROMs they actually sell. Broadcasting Yearbooks have many of the same kind of lists for North America, and with the same kinds of errors, including future plans that never happened or never were. The History Cards answer the veracity or lack thereof of some of these. I can't begin to tell you the number of stories about Radio People who claimed that certain events "never happened", when the History Cards say otherwise. Incomplete, difficult to use, but the only definitive source, especially when many of the oldtimers have sadly passed away.

Pity. Having the WRTH's online would have been handy for the short history of Singapore radio I wrote on Quora some time ago...

Having said that, if the CD is only $150, and it covers all the issues, that's not such a bad deal. (Has anyone priced WRTH back issues on Amazon or Ebay? (Typically around $15-20 each, though some older issues are as high as $100+)
