WROR

Do you think the reason why WROR does so well Is that despite being a classic hits station they have a classic rock leaning playlist. Or do you think it’s the personalities on the station

They ****ed up when they dropped Little Steven's underground garage
I now have no reason to listen to that pile of crap

Hey Genius, fountain of creativity, and knowledge.
Who gives a shit about ratings?
I Referred to a programming decision to remove a great, specialty show that they aired on Sunday nights.
What happens during rated hours isn't related to the subject.
Instead of making annoying. snippy comments, make some sense, and then I'll behave

Stations care about ratings, because their ad rates are based significantly on audience size and composition. Commercial stations are a business, and they thrive on good ratings.

Sunday night is a rated hour. Every one of the 168 hours in a week is rated. Yes, some hours and dayparts are less important... but those M-Sun 6 AM to Midnight numbers we see in the industry press do include weekend evening hours... so they are important.

Using a multi-month average, WROR is second in cume in the market with 800,000 listeners if you add in the Worcester market. And it is, on average this year and in 25-54 3rd in mornings, second in mid-day, evening and afternoon. So if they decided to change the weekend evening lineup, it is likely due to certain shows not pulling in the target audience.

There is no need to insult with hidden profanities disguised by asterisks when another poster gives their opinion. Everyone here has a right to state their perspective, politely. In this case, the opinion about removing specialty shows is backed by an overall ratings increase as proof of the point. On the other hand, you have given no reason why the "Underground Garage" should have been kept.

Underground Garage seems a much better fit for AAA stations' weekends. I'm surprised 'ROR held onto it so long. 90+ percent of the music played on that show is probably unfamiliar to the station's target audience, and the playlist also includes classic R&B hits, which 'ROR has made a policy of avoiding altogether.

Speaking of WROR, within the last hour they actually played "Smooth"-Santana featuring Rob Thomas. While I realize that the song came out over 20 years ago at this point. I never did consider it to be old enough to be labeled as a Classic Hit at all. 😮

It's a Santana record, which probably makes it more palatable to classic hits' 45-54 listeners than, say, "I Want It That Way" or "Livin' La Vida Loca" (also big 1999 hits) would be.
