They preempted that for this?

Fox is going all-sports for Christmas. So some regular daytime shows will be pre-empted. They start with college basketball, then cover a rare Christmas NFL game. How rare is it for the NFL to do a game on Christmas? Apparently it's even rarer for them to do one on Friday. So this is extra rare:

NFL schedule 2020: Friday Christmas game among quirks (yahoo.com)

Then they end the day with the WWE Friday Smackdown. So there will be other sports options to NBA on Christmas Day this year.

This will be the first year that there has been an NFL game on every day of the week.

KTLA is shifting tonight's CW Christmas Carol Challange Finale till tomorrow (Christmas Day) in favor of a Christmas Eve Yule Log. The CW Christmas Night Jingle Ball encore gets moved to Saturday.

WVUE FOX 8 in New Orleans is moving College Basketball coverage to 8.2 Bounce. This is because the station plans to air 90 minutes of local Saints pregame from 1:00-2:30 Central. WAXN bumped The Goldbergs up to 8 and 8:30 tonight (replacing two episodes of Family Feud) to air The First Presbyterian Church Christmas Eve Service at 11pm.

WPIX will air a special schedule tomorrow that will have episodes of The Honeymooners and March of the Wooden Soldiers. It will also have the Yule Log. Not sure what's going to happen with the normal programs airing.

According to their website WAXN also cut their 10pm news in half and aired Right This Minute at 10:30 tonight. I know they aired RTM at 10:30. I didn’t catch it on the guide in time.

2017 & 2016 there were 2 Christmas Day games
It depends on what day of the week Christmas falls on. Next year Christmas is on Saturday so there will likely be a game next year too.

Nashville Area TV stations pre-empt regular programming for an explosion in the Downtown District.

Nothing. It's a WPIX tradition that's been going for decades. The Yule Log is still even in 4:3. The pre-empted CW network and syndie shows do not get made up.

Also a tradition, WPIX will be running a Honeymooners marathon from 11:00 PM 12/31 to 5:00 PM 1/1.

Oh, OK. I thought the CW Programing was going to get pushed back on WPIX tonight.

NBA ran over 5 minutes on ABC. On the East Coast, ABC ran a Microsoft Surface ad and immediately JIP'd a rerun of blackish (unlike last year, there was no JIP card).

On the West Coast, stations generally scheduled syndies or random local filler for 7:30, or just kept whatever they normally air at 7:30. KOMO 4 in Seattle slid Wheel of Fortune from 7:00 and 7:30 and Jeopardy! to later in the evening. Wheel ended up getting JIP'd towards the end of the first round, even though most of the time when Wheel is scheduled after sports, it airs in its entirety. KGO 7 in San Francisco put Localish filler at 7:30 (oddly listed as a repeat of the #BeLocalish Holiday Shopping special that the O&O's aired three weeks ago; guess it doesn't make sense to air now), ensuring that neither blackish nor Jeopardy! or Wheel (moved to 9:00 and 9:30 after more Localish filler at 8:30) would get JIP'd.

KABC 7 in LA followed the game with local Lakers postgame show Slam Dunk, which always runs for a full 60 minutes even if the game runs over. After that, the blackish rerun started from the beginning instead of being JIP'd like on the East Coast. Afterwards, tonight's Wheel of Fortune was JIP'd during Round 1. This is odd (and unfair) that they put Wheel here, since it's a new episode with LA locals, while Jeopardy!, which normally airs before Wheel, not after, is a rerun from ~2007.) This exact same scenario happened last Christmas, but Jeopardy! was scheduled first, so that got JIP'd instead of Wheel (and in the inverse of this year, J! was new but Wheel was a rerun because of Pat Sajak's surgery cancelling the Xmas week that season). Was really hoping they wouldn't opt to show blackish in its entirety since KABC has been on top of making sure J! and Wheel don't get cut off or skipped this season (sometimes only doing local news for 15 minutes so they can both air on time).

Interestingly, for a split second, KABC aired a JIP card for WTVD 11 in Raleigh/Durham, before the proper KABC one appeared.
