Zara "event scheduler" problem--freezing up

We use the free version of ZaraStudio v1.6.2 to automate our college radio station. It's been working fine, but last week it started throwing an error message. I had scheduled some events to run at specific times over the next couple of months. When I went to check those events, I clicked on the “schedule events” icon and it stopped the playlist and froze the program. I had to restart the program. I tried restarting the computer, also, but that didn’t help…clicking “schedule events” is still freezing the program. An error message comes up every time about an issue with invalid Date/Time, asking me to send a file to an email address, '[email protected]', that nobody ever responds to. Any ideas for how to fix this?

If your computer has a battery on the motherboard to keep the clock running, it might be flat. They are usually a 2032 button battery.

There is an error in the registry. You will need to reload Windows and the software unless you have a backup copy of the registry. I've had the same problem. I stopped using Zara for that reason.

Did that arise from a Windows 10 update?

It has happened with Windows 7, 8 and 10. It's a problem with Zara corrupting the registry.

Given the error message is telling to E-mail them, it sure sounds like an Easter Egg built into the application. Some freeware is like that. You have the opportunity to pay for an actual license. Wonder if you rolled the date back on your PC to an earlier date, whether it would start working again?

Nope. Nothing worked for me. I had to re-install Windows and the Zara software. You might be able to roll Windows back to some point before the problem started. Once you get the software operating properly, be sure to save a copy of the computer's registry!

You will get an error message if nothing is plugged into the designated audio output. Zara runs well on Vista Business or Windows 10 Professional. Make sure to take control of updates on Windows 10. Zara is a great program.
