WFME tower is had been sold

maybe new 107.9
As Scott has pointed out, everything about that translator is just rumor and speculation at this point. It is not approved, it is not allowed yet (if ever) to move to the ESB.

"Soon we will be announcing a new way you can hear Family Radio in the NYC area."

Sounds like they're preparing their audience for changes.

For now, they’re operating under a STA. Their transmission system was damaged and they’re running on their nighttime pattern full time. Sounds like they’re not going to make the repair to bring the daytime pattern back, which makes sense considering they’re abandoning the site.

I would not be surprised if they simply sold the AM license and put Family Radio on a leased HD subchannel. Not sure who would want 1560, but I suspect it would be someone who already owns an AM site where it could be diplexed.

There's a lot they can do with $50 million.

Just discovered this: FCCdata.org - powered by REC

I wonder if this relay will be associated with WFME AM, once built out.

The link says it will.

Just like Mr. Joy, I too have Cerebral Palsy but unlike him, I'll be celebrating my 50th birthday in April.

Yep, I mentioned it because that was Family Radio's previous location, and Entercom will likely leave it when they move to Lyndhurst (unless it's retained for backup). That's some pretty valuable land in West Orange (although I think they share the site with Channel 68).

In snooping around, I noticed that Radio-Locator has updated their WNSH transmitter location to be in Lyndhurst. I haven't seen any formal announcement of that change yet. We know a CP exists for making the move. The co-ordinates for Wikipedia are still in West Orange.
I believe the Lyndhurst location for 94.7 will be on one of WOR's towers.

I am just amazed... I panned around the area, and it seems that even an occasional tree is rare.

I guess they need loads of warehouses and supply depots to provide for all the people living in those 1,400-foot-high pencil-thin condos in Manhattan that cost more than I have made in my entire lifetime!
I think what attracted the logistics company that's purchasing the site as well as the other warehouses and supply depots is the proximity to La Guardia.

Likely the cost of buying 1190 is greater than the cost of rebuilding 1560.
I don't know what rebuilding or finding a station with which to diplex would involve in terms of cost, but buying 1190 does seem like a viable option. The station is rumored to be for sale.

WABC sold for $12.5 million. So what would WLIB's price tag be? Perhaps $4-$5 million? Maybe Family could then sell the 1560 license to someone.

WWRL is dark right now. Does anyone know why? The Black Information Network can still be heard at 105.1 HD3
I read recently that WWRL lost a tower ( of the 4 they have ) in a recent storm they had go thru area, because of this they were operating at reduced power day & night non-DA. Maybe the new owners felt it be better to take it off the air, while the new replacement tower goes up ? Just a thought ?
In the late 60's when THE BIG RL was SWEET 16 ,they played R&B and were good at it, They had great audio but the signal wasn't great in New Jersey west of the towers ,very spotty.
I recall cruisin' Bloomfield Av near Branch Brook Park ,in Newark,NJ and on the car radio driving east THE BIG RL would quickly get loud, really loud . . . as you headed into Newark. On the way west as we cruised Bloomfield Av. ,they'd get weak same spot other side of street.
I played the game all the time, it was fun to me ,not my friends !

1560 went to 50KW in 1955 before that they were 10KW. I know they protect stations on 1550 and 1570 but why could they not go 10 KW fulltime from one Tower? Possibly WABC?
