iNews...Who is behind it?

I was listening to an overnight program online when, at the top of the hour, I heard them say iNews. Chris Barnes, formerly of USA Radio News, is the newsreader. Wendy King, formerly of the now-defunct Westwood One News, is a correspondent.

Who is behind iNews? I couldn't find any information online.
 
I'm surprised that they are using the name iNews.
Avid Technology owns the iNews name.
iNews is very well known television newsroom software.
Before my retirement, I managed the iNews computer system for WTVT television, Tampa.
I started managing the system long before it was iNews. When I started, it was called BASYS and used serial dumb terminals rather than PCs.

I had the exact same reaction to the name, having been a longtime iNews user where I worked. Not so many years ago iNews was one of two NRCS systems commonly found in newsrooms, the other being ENPS...it was pretty much one or the other, sort of like Windows and Mac. Now there are a number of other NRCS systems out there, such as Dalet, Octopus, Inception, amongst other recent entrants.

I too remember the BASYS days and the green screen dumb terminals back in the 1980's. A huge and welcome improvement over doing things on IBM Selectrics and old teletype machines for wire services!

I've also used ENPS, but preferred iNews as I found ENPS rather clunky at the time...but everyone has their favorite, probably depending on "what you're used to."

I remember a few of the names of the Avid newsroom software through the years:
BASYS (Basys Automation SYStem), Avid News, AvStar (when they bought NewsStar), iNews. :D

I did a trademark search and only found one for Avid Technologies:

Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS) (uspto.gov)

It's pretty specific in how it's used. Five letters, stylized. No mention of hyphen.

There is no trademark for i-News that I could find.
 
There was a guy by the name of John Hunt who owned a station (or a few stations) somewhere on the coast of Oregon. It seems like the new iNews brand is largely his vision. I wish him all the best as he works to build this new brand!
 
I-News looks pretty amateurish.... Their website with "news" hasn't been updated since November 30th....

I love all of these amateurs who are trying to be "professional" with absolutely no training....
