Tegna and NBC renew affiliation deal

Stations affected by the deal are WXIA, KING, KARE, KPNX

Stations affected by the deal are WXIA, KING, KARE, KPNX
Also WCNC and KUSA, among others

I wonder if NBC is going to buy Tegna top 25 markets and become Owned and Operated tv stations?
  • WXIA 11 Atlanta
  • KPNX 12 Phoenix
  • KING 5 Seattle
  • KARE 11 Minneapolis/St. Paul
  • KUSA 9 Denver
  • WKRC 3 Cleveland
  • KGW 8 Portland
  • WCNC 36 Charlotte
  • KSDK 5 St. Louis
  • WTHR 13 Indianapolis

It would also involve buying the duopoly station in the markets that have them (WATL 36 Atlanta, KONG 16 Seattle, KTVD 20 Denver) unless NBC were to make the above stations standalone purchases while keeping the duopoly stations with Tegna. However, the duopolies each operate from the same headquarters as the primary station, so there would be a bit of relocation to effect. Still, 'tis just a thought overall.
