100.5 FM

I've noticed lately that 100.5 has added 70's music to their station. They used to be only 80's and 90's.
I liked the station before but I enjoy it even more now.

I miss the days when it was 90's & 2000's hits as "Gen X Radio". There wasn't a station like it for hundreds of miles and I would always try to pull it in from Lexington, often with no problem at all. Adding 70's to the mix just makes them another classic hits station. Nothing special. It will put them into competition with WAKY, WSFR, and (to a lesser extent) WXMA.

I agree i do not want to hear 70s and gen x was a good station.

Gen xmas radio. Its funny how they stole the xmas from 106.9 but not for long.

they’ve actually added early to mid 2000’s music as well...in one hour I heard the Bee Gees, Depeche Mode and Gnarls Barkley..so they are a bit broader than their classic hits competition

Yeah I miss 100.5 GenX when it came out. I was living in Louisville at the time and everyone I knew loved that station.

They received a 1.0 share in the latest ratings. It was 2.5 in September. A very similar station (jack FM) in Indy received a 9.5 share and is consistently on top.
Just imagine if clear channel would have left 100.5 The Fox alone 15+ years ago. It certainly would be pulling in bigger numbers, with any generic Active Rock format. Heck, a 24 hr loop of the weather report should be drawing better than a 1.0 share.

But will iheart put up with the abysmal ratings on 100.5 or blow it up? That is the question. Put rock on it. Louisvilles best rock a mainstream rock station or put a gen x ish station. Alternative rock from years past.

I lived near Lexington for a bit (moved back to Mississippi a couple of years ago) and I found it to be a strange market. I never got the impression that rock stations would do well there in most demos. Having said that, I have no idea what iHeart would put on it. iHeart is such a damned mess that they probably have no idea what day it is.

I just sent you some mail.
