How does 97.9 wrmf does in terms of billing?

I think very well. Its been the dominant station in WPB for decades, still dominant today and has the area's #1 morning show... The KVJ Show.

When everything works well and your #1, the money the station is receiving is probably very very good.
 
One method to approach a stations true blling rate is FCC public inspection files for politicals.

Example.... WRMF buy for Joe Biden 6AM-10AM $110.00 , 10A-3PM $100.00, 3PM-7PM $100.00,
weekends $25.00 , 135 spots total $11,950.00

Non-Candidate issue ads.... WRMF buy for Democratic National Committee 6AM-10AM $350.00,
10A-3PM $300.00, 3PM-7PM $325.00, weekend range $75.00 - $200.00 per spot,
77 spots total $18,125.00

#1 at just over $8 million last year. Then there is WEAT at about a million less, then a big drop to WIRK and another to the group of WLDI, WBMX and WKGR around $3 million.

All three of the top 3 billers are Hubbard stations, and the cluster takes over 50% of market revenue.

Yes. Tampa has an amazing spread of 14 stations billing at $5 million up to $9 million, and WRBQ is right in the middle.

WRBQ has a history of success (except for the few years when they played country music ... up against my former station, WQYK.

Makes sense... top station gets top billing.
 
At one time WRBQ was top-40 and owned by Southern Broadcasting out of Winston Salem, NC.
And it was the victim of Randy Micheals, Clear Channel and the Power Pig. WRBQ panicked, tried to protect the young demos and lost the adults. They changed manager after that disaster and then changed format.
 
The Power Pig devastated RBQ in a short matter of time. I have the original aircheck somewhere. It was brutal.

That CHR battle was always closer than it seemed. Of course, Q105 was never going to get back to that 25 share in 1989, but Power Pig never got close to it either.

The actual death blow to Q105’s top-40 format was when WNLT “Lite Rock 96” became WMTX “Mix 96.” That change was the one that took Q105’s adult listeners, which had become its bread and butter after Power Pig got its younger audience, and left it with no path to viability. If Q105 had gone hot AC before WNLT, it would've remained viable with its older audience that didn’t like the attitude and/or the music of Power Pig.
