Brian Whitman out at 870 the answer

I wonder why. Brian is so funny. His trump his bush his rick dees etc impressions. Very funny. He was the only one left from when they went from a syndicated morning show which was glenn beck in 2012 to live and local.

I wonder if it was all bout cost cutting or more to it then that? Hmmmm

The whole thing seems personal as they are pairing Jen with a new co-host every day and calling it a gift to listeners.
A bit tone-deaf I would say.

Brian has been the morning show's one true radio professional. Of his pairings, neither Elisha Krauss nor Ben Shapiro or the current Jennifer Horn had a prior LARadio resume of note. Only Heidi Harris, the original co-host, came in with a true radio track record (in Las Vegas radio) that could attempt to match up to Brian's (which includes PLJ in NYC and years here as part of the Rick Dees' cast of characters). Such a shame to see KRLA cast away an obvious radio talent, and a person who so frequently on-air displayed his humanity and bridge building amongst a sea of broadcasters who know nothing but disdain for the Democratic party.

It wasnt his politics brian has always been on the left i just think they wanted to make the morning show all conservative.
Patrick...by definition, what you wrote clearly conveys that "it was his politics". They no longer wish to even pretend to be showcasing a fair presentation of current events. As I wrote above last month, Brian has been the morning show's one true radio professional...with an impressive radio resume spanning WPLJ in NYC as well as KIIS and KLSX here in LA.

It reflects poorly on KRLA that it so cavalierly cast away an obvious radio talent, and a person who so frequently displayed on-air his humanity and bridge-building outreaches to his very conservative co-hosts, amongst a sea of broadcasters on that station who know nothing but disdain for the Democratic party and who do not aspire to provide honest "ANSWERS" but rather to brainwash their sizeable audience (averages about a 1 share in 12+) with GOP talking points.

I haven't kept up on this station in years. So in addition to Whitman, Medved is gone too? Too bad, I liked both those guys in different ways. Medved is a relatively sane conservative, particularly on immigration (he also trashed the birther movement early on). And as David said, Whitman's a genuine bridge builder. I understand at one point he was friends with Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck (maybe still?).

So your saying a conservative station can't cater to its audience by dropping a liberal voice?

I don't recall Air America having any conservative voices, but I am guessing you were probably ok with that?

Flipper.....KRLA runs bumpers promoting their presentation of truthful, unvarnished information. Air America never pretended to be anything other than a partisan network. Even the name "The Answer" implies the correct information being provided on their air for the questions you have.

As this is a radio board, from a compelling broadcast perspective KRLA puts out a more interesting presentation than Air America was. Like you, I am a channel sampler (flipper) too and never found myself drawn to Air America or its local follow-up KTLK on 1150 AM. I am intrigued by the upcoming Tavis Smiley led liberal station about to debut on 1580 AM, but I suspect the compellingness of its on-air product will be limited.

Lastly, if you look to stations accused of being liberal (NPR), note how much they do make sure to feature conservative as well as liberal newsmakers on their air. That's much more of a balanced approach to presenting a fair, thoughtful, broadcast format.

I wonder if Salem Execs are kicking themselves for letting Brian go right about now. The Morning Answer is so bland these days. Jen is great and smart as always but together with Brian's impressions and comments - the show was hilarious.

I agree brian was great but i wonder why they made the decision to go all conservative on the mourning answer? Did they do research or did they get complaints? I dont agree with brians politics but he was 1 of a kind n very entertaining

I disagreed with him on his political views but he is an excellent talk show host and added humor to the show. The way he and Jen interacted on the air showed you can have different views and still be friends. It came across like they really cared for one another.
