A new log of a station on 840 kHz this morning at 8:00am CST - KTIC, West Point, Nebraska. A 5 kW non-directional daytime only station with a Farm format. The morning host had a "major market" voice and delivery. This was a surprise. I listened to their highly in depth weather forecast segment that was a 10 minutes in length. I am located beyond their non-critical hours coverage area by about 60 miles. Distance to their transmitter site from my location is 225 miles.

Since you said the morning host had a "major market" voice I was wondering if the show was syndicated, but when you mentioned the in depth weather I guess not. Nice catch.

"But wait....there;s more".....Iceland SDR last night (Westfjords) 9:30pm CST (0330 UTC)....

1630: KCJJ Very weak, but able to ID from spot for local plumbing contractor. Phone # was Iowa City match
1650: CINA and KCNJ mixing
1670: CJEU with WOZN underneath
1690: WPTX weak, but not quite as weak as on the Warrington, UK SDR

Also some of the "usual suspects" from North America.....CFTR, WBZ, WBBR, and CFGO (strong). Plus one new one for me, WEAV 960 Plattsburgh, NY. (General vacinity of Montreal) 5kw directional to the north..

This station really gets out well. One of my biggest customers for many years was in Columbus, Nebraska (92 miles west of Omaha). Their ad agency was an hour southeast of there in Lincoln. Came in like a local in both places and clearly listenable on I-80 all the way to Des Moines or on I-29 to St. Joseph, MO.

The long weather forecasts on stations in that part of the world aren't unusual. WNAX and KRVN come to mind as stationd that routinely spent more time with regional weather forecasts than TOH newscasts. Same goes for some of the big signal CBC stations in rural areas. CBK and CBW, for example. I'd also be surprised if WIBW and/or KFRM don't have at least one or two segments like that.

I thought the same thing at first until he read local spots and did the weather segment live. Great voice for a very small market.

Yes! I have listened to the long weather segments on both WNAX and KRVN. Very informative! WIBW did have excellent weather segments until a change in ownership in 2015 and they fired long time meteorologist Dave Relihan. Now, they have recorded weather forecasts from a local TV station. They also "chopped" most of the experienced on-air news and sports talent with the change in ownership. I listened to WIBW a lot before these events.

I did check out the Iceland SDR briefly. The X-band stations were there. Heard KCJJ & WPTX. Also, a weak WBZ and WBBR.
On Warrington, UK the only NA I heard was WPTX weak. Conditions weren't as good when I tuned in about 0500 UTC.

I took a brief turn on the Warrington SDR this evening. Conditions nowhere near as good what I heard last night. The best I could come up with was WBBR as a "maybe". I think I had it for about 30 seconds, then it faded and didn't return. Also heard what might have been WLAC on 1510. Very weak, then faded, so I really can't confirm it.

I don't know why but trans Atlantic DX has been very poor this year for the most part. There have been some good moments, but overall I've been very disappointed this year. Even DX to the Hawaii receiver has been below recent years.

I was on the Warrington, UK SDR last night. Nothing at all like the night before. Very weak CFTR and WBBR were the only TA signals I could identify.

New catch for me this morning around 4:30am CST (1030 UTC), WZAM from Ishpameng, Michign (Upper Peninsula) on 970 . Fair signal, well on top of everything else and steady. ESPN sports and a positive ID. Something tells me it was 5kw ND day power rather than the 42 watts they're supposed to be running at night. Anyway, the radio was my new toy, the C Crane skywave.

The other AM that was in Ishpeming, WIAN 1240, turned in their license last year. That station began as WJPD, and is where Kris Erik Stevens began his radio career. He does or did own stations up there more recently.

Checked out some DX on the Iceland SDR on Jan 15, around 11:30PM CST--midnight. Heard CFRB and WINS battling on 1010, WBZ 1030, WBBR strong and WJR 760 weak. On the Arctic receiver WYLL fair, KTLK good, KOMO fair/good and KNOM fair. KNOM was stronger on the Haida Gwaii SDR. I tried the Warrington, UK SDR. On 1010 I heard what sounded like CBRB and WINS battling. North American sports scores were heard plus baseball trades were talked about, but neither stations webstream matched the audio. Don't know what else I could've been hearing from NA on 1010 with news.

At a bit after 1 a.m. CT in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, something is trying to rise above the hash on 1710. A poster on Facebook's "I Love AM Radio" site in Kenosha, Wis., says it's New Jersey Coronavirus info. I dunno, but it has the sound of a TIS. That would make it WQFG689 with 100 watts (special authorization), but I'm not counting it without an ID.

Low sunspots, probably. DX overall has been down on MW here since around 2016-2017. On the exact same equipment and antennas...

Walking to Walmart in Carmichael was on 1600 listening to KUBA around 1:30pm I'm getting sort of Skywave hearing might be KGST, Cause it very weak

Tried for KNX gain, But not there..On a warm day 69 Today

Maybe, but last season MWDX was excellent.
Definitely a dramatic dropoff from last season. Especially on the Arctic SDR. Although I haven't noticed the dropoff as much on the Hawaii SDR. A couple of nights ago, there was something (seemingly from North America) on every AM broadcast band channel above 1200 on the Oahu rig. Including a low rumble on the GY channels (save for other Hawaii stations). I didn't hang around long enough to ID any of them, but I do plan to return to see if I'm able to confirm a few.
