Fox News Channel - dumb, dumb, DUMB!

I was a regular viewer of Martha MacCallum's 7 pm show on Fox. When it was announced that they were bumping her out of prime time and I heard the reason is that Newsmax is beating Fox in the ratings in that slot with Greg Kelly I decided to check it out. Good show!

I've posted here before that I found Newsmax difficult to watch due to their low-budget presentation. And while much of that still exists, it's greatly improved. They've added new shows instead of broadcasting video of radio talk shows and this time I was pleasantly surprised. So surprised in fact that I've made the switch. I'm done with Fox. No more yelling at the screen every time Chris Wallace appears!

But my main point is that FNC themselves drove me to Newsmax by the stupid decision to move a good show. It will take it's replacement awhile to gain traction - they don't even have a permanent host yet - and meanwhile Greg Kelly will gain even more viewers.

Dumb, dumb, DUMB!

No argument from me.
This is a remarkable day in the history of RadioDiscussions. BigA doesn't want to make an argument! :D

The next year or two could be interesting for Fox News, because there is no heir apparent to Donald Trump in the GOP. There's not an obvious direction for Fox & Friends to turn for their talking points.

What if Fox News decides to pivot to whatever comes next in conservative intellectual circles, and NewsMax stays with Trump and Trump-like candidates? I don't think anyone knows how the American conservative movement will evolve by the 2022 midterm election, but it certainly seems likely there will be candidates coming from both angles.

I think if that happens, they will lose. Conservative intellectual discussions aren't good for ratings. There is no better TV producer than DJT. I was horrified by what I saw on Jan 6th, but at the same time, I couldn't turn it off. He created compelling TV, and any other politician is dull and boring. In fact Lindsay Graham said it best when he said that the GOP can't win back the house or senate without DJT. He may be right. So Fox News has a tough decision ahead of it now. How much time do they give an ex-president? Do they allow him to set their agenda?

I think the main difference between Newsmax or OAN and Fox is that Fox SOMETIMES deals in facts!
It appears that OAN did not air the inauguration festivities, or even acknowledge them as they ocurred. It's not clear they've admitted yet that Joe Biden is president. Certainly their web site is burying the lede, with the first two headlines: "President Trump Delivers Final Remarks" and "Chinese propaganda hails end of President Trump's 1st term"

Yikes.

I can't disagree. And for that, I fear for the future of our republic. We will be entertaining ourselves to death.

I wonder if they're even part of the media pool. They may find it harder to get press credentials now.
The Villages Daily Sun (official newspaper of Trump stronghold in Florida) like Newsmax is apparently ignoring the inauguration. The “big story” is of a rec center redo! I’ve noticed since around Christmas, that the Villages Daily Sun was ignoring or downplaying any stories or news that acknowledges that the former POTUS did not win the election. The Tampa Bay Times, Orlando Sentinel, Leesburg Daily Commercial, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Miami Herald and Palm Beach Post all their major headline on Inauguration Day about the Inauguration.

My take here is that the Right especially in the next 2-4 years will be that Fox News, Newsmax and OAN will hype up Mike Lindell of My Pillow to enter any political office including the Presidential candidacy to be groomed as the next Trump.

Sure Lindell is facing political attacks in the form of a boycott but this is someone that needs to be watched carefully during the Biden era.

There can only be one Trump, the GOP needs to get back to normalcy and having Mr Pillow will not do that.

I didn't mean to start a political discussion here. My point is that Fox, by reacting too quickly to short-term ratings, moved a show out of prime time and by doing so lost a viewer. That's anecdotal but it wouldn't surprise me to see Newsmax gain even more viewers as a result of the schedule change. And BTW, Newsmax did carry the inauguration - I watched it.

True it's just It's impossible to separate politics from broadcasting when certain outlets in question are mixing the two together.

Sure I don't know if the GOP can go back to the George W. Bush, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan eras if this is what you mean by normalcy in the GOP.

But the new normal if we are to look at how right wing outlets are going to be in the next 2-4 years is look for a Trump type person as their pundit the My Pillow guy is a person of interest so far that's being hyped up among the right wing media outlets. We have to watch Mike Lindells rants trend on Social Media within this timeframe.

The other side of this is hats off to Newsmax for recognizing a weak spot and putting their strongest show in that slot. They knew they couldn't win at the other times, at least not immediately. "You are The Weakest Link...Goodbye!"

I've been seeing a lot of advertising from Newsmax pushing Greg's show and talking up their other shows.

So if Fox is "dumb, dumb, dumb," that makes Newsmax "smart, smart, smart.
