90.7 WKKL is back on air with a Classic Alternative format

Alot of format changes recently happening in the Cape and islands with 89.5 WNCK flipping to Country in December, Bob Bittner acquiring 1240 WBAS/106.5 W268CP that will flip to Soft Oldies/Standards, and 90.7 WKKLs return to the FM dial with a Classic Alternative format:

Very interesting, now I wonder if other broadcasters will take note, and watch this new does? Or if they will just dismiss it as catering to niche on Cape Cod instead?

The larger broadcasters on Cape will probably keep their stations the same. Format changes don't happen too often on the Cape (with the exception of the recent developments in Dec '20/Jan '21 on Cape and islands). The last major change that occurred was when 101.1 WFRQ broke off with 93.5 WFQR and became WHYA "Y101" in April 2013. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a few more new frequencies with similar or different formats show up on different parts of the Cape in the future. 98.7 FM has been a vacant frequency since WKFY moved to 101.5 FM. Guess it depends if an available frequency shows up at an auction. And which broadcaster wants to buy it. Honestly, I could see K-Love jumping into the Cape Cod market if the opportunity presents itself.

And if I'm not mistaken I think WUMB has a CP in Orleans for an FM translator at 105.3 FM. Because its simulcast 91.9 FM WFPB in Falmouth doesn't reach that part of Cape.

It looks like it's registered as an FM translator for WFPB 1170 AM Orleans, which is also a WUMB simulcast, rather than as a translator for parent station WUMB, Boston itself.
