It's an annual anomaly. The numbers in it aren't indicative of any sort of lasting trend for any of the stations listed. It's interesting that Magic exploded this season. Several other books I've seen have show traditional Christmas-music powerhouses getting less of a bump this year, with speculation that the pandemic might have something to do with it. Of course, what DOESN'T the pandemic have something to do with?
Agencies and other users of the Nielsen data skip this book entirely. In some cases, they will use this year's Holiday data to set pricing for Christmas 2021. But otherwise, the book has zero importance. Programmers ignore it.
Big story to me is the remarkable rebound WJMN has witnessed over the past several survey periods.
Including more gold in the playlist from the 90's & 00's appears to be boosting the station's numbers. The demise of Amp Radio 103.3 might also be causing more listeners to spend time (or spend more time) with 94.5.
Are there other recent programming changes that perhaps are fueling WJMN's resurgence?
