Description
KPHX(AM) licensed to Phoenix. 1480, Khz, 1 kW day, 33 watts night, non-directional. Has a low power FM translator forever tied with it, K225CT Paradise Valley. Possible other translators available. Reasonable tower rent.

Perfect opportunity for the Buckeye Media But to put theory into practice. :ROFLMAO:

I'm certain a slight tuition increase would help fund the purchase price.

Vic has given up. Diplexing on 14~Hundred has been problematic. The 3 watt translator sucks. And whatever revenue he's getting from KASA to use his frequency while they sort out their problems is probably coming to an end. On the brighter side, the listing says "possible other translators".

Buy the tract home in Buckeye for $300k...you won't be sorry (as long as it's far enough away from the Media Hut).

Heh...

🤣😂

Vic bought it for $100k...but the previous owner sold the land for houses. He downgraded KPHX 14~Eighty from Class B to Class D so he could do a drop wire from 14~Hundred KSUN's stick and go non directional. Currently KPHX operates with an STA of 250 watts day, and 25 watts at night. Tuning issues remain because 14~Eighty is close to 14~Hundred, which cranks out 1kw day and night. And now to make things even more interesting, KQFN 15~Eighty has an application to diplex from the same site with 24kw day and 290 watts at night.

$300k is an aggressive price...maybe if he offered shares in Game Stop, Vic could get it!

I saw a translator go for a million bucks last year, but it's located right in the middle of a big Desi neighborhood, so it makes money pumping out the Hindi hits.

If the translator 1480 is tied to doesn't have coverage, then yeah, that's an aggressive price.

Like JJ was zee keeng of beepers, Vic Michaels is the king of translators. For 300k, he'd probably sweeten the deal with a better translator. At least one with more juice than a baby monitor in Paradise Valley (and that is the COL for KPHX's translator)

Sounds about right. A little less lame KXEG 12~Eighty and better translator is still for sale.

1280 is lamer with their "temporary setup" at PIR than 1480 is. It can barely be heard out of the stands there. And the good question is, if they do find a buyer, where will they diplex? Maybe (former sister station) 1010's tower on the border of Tolleson and Southwest Phoenix.

It's a horizontal long wire cranking out all of 625 watts, daytime only. They need to go vertical with a real ground system. 7~Forty, 8~Sixty, 9~Ten, 10~Ten, and 11~Ninety might work. Doubt the receiver will make that call, but a new owner certainly would. The paired translator is on Shaw Butte and sends most of its signal due west.

In other acronyms: POS. If someone wants to pay that kind of cash for a lipstick laden pig, I have a bridge in Manhattan they might be interested in..
