What happened to Cruisin Bruce Palmer

I don’t usually listen to the Pike in morning drive but it appears Bruce Palmer is no longer with the station.

There is no mention of him on the WWFX website.

WWFX-FM

Did he leave in his own?

He's still listed as the (voicetracked) morning DJ on the oldies station formerly called "Big FM 105.3" that was on 1570 AM WUBG, Methuen and its FM translator at 105.3 in Medford before they leased it out to "K-Love". His voicetracked show was on here while his live show was on WWFX "The Pike". The "Big FM" oldies programming is now online and on the HD3 channel of 102.9 W275BH, the FM translator of WNNW, Lawrence.

SHOWS | Boston's Big FM

The actual on-air schedule on pikefm.com (as opposed to the SHOWS link) lists TBA from 6am to 10am so I'd have to say he's gone. The on-air schedule also doesn't list Mike Hsu (although the SHOWS link does from 6pm to 8pm). My guess is Mike Hsu moving into morning drive (or Mike and Mistress Carrie coming in? How's that for a bold prediction.). Nothing mentioned on Palmer's Facebook page that I can see. Too bad, I enjoyed listening to him. I'm guessing a contract thing. I don't notice any changes to the schedule at sister stations Nash Icon 98.9 (WORC-FM) or 104-5 WXLO.

Keith Stephans from sister station Nash Icon 98.9 (WORC-FM) is on The Pike this morning.

As mentioned, the show schedule still has TBA in morning drive.

Bruce Palmer's Facebook page says that he is the "former morning show host" on The Pike, and that he "left job" from the Pike. Great talent--I know he DJs at car shows and cruise nights, as well as VT work. I'm sure he'll land on his feet.

I heard a promo this afternoon that a new morning show is debuting next Monday February 22nd.

And even though the website still has “Worcester’s #1 for classic hits”, they have downplayed it significantly over the air.

Their liners now say “more non-stop rock”. Perhaps a format tweak along with the new morning show.

I suspect a format tweak/change as well. Though not on the official website yet, The Pike’s Facebook page is sporting an updated logo “The Pike Rocks” instead of classic hits, and some newer music has been added. I’m guessing a more mainstream rock/AOR format, similar to when it was The Fox in the early 2000’s?

When WAAF went down, they (Mike Hsu, Mistress Carrie and others) had mentioned that they had been planning a whole new morning show for WAAF with Hsu and somebody else as morning drive hosts. Maybe that's what's coming in. I haven't been listening but has Mike Hsu been on his nightly 6pm to 8pm shift this week?

Middayer Chuck Perks just hinted that the host of the new morning show is a "shoe-in" for the job. Guess that answers our question.

I also just noticed on the Pikes Facebook page in the about section a new tag line, “Worcester’s ROCK Station”

Definitely appears to be a format adjustment with the debut of their new morning show on Monday.

The header for the Pike's FB page says the " Pike Rocks" logo was uploaded on Dec 16 2020 but the other clues given here do foretell of a shift and indeed, new morning show.
