CFRB Toronto Newsroom gutted

Most, if not all news is now coming from Ottawa's CFRA, and yes they are making a lot of mistakes.
Mount Albert and Mount Allison are two totally different places.
All other Toronto stations (that have news content) are reporting the correct Mount Albert shootings while News talk 1010 (CFRB) is now in it's own very tiny little world making up their own news and looking very stupid reporting that the shooting is in Mount Allison.
Not just that, also not correcting it by the next several hours.
(It was a Sunday morning, and may be a tape...but still! If you can't get the news right...)

That's the serious pitfall of that kind of media consolidation. It's not uncommon for those kinds of local-turned national or large-area regional newsrooms to have serious problems with staff who misunderstand or mispronounce locations, names of locations and streets etc. If any of their assets need the chopping block for financial reasons, I would argue that CP24; the local all-news channel available only on pay TV that isn't even live 24/7 anymore should have been the target of such cuts. Traditional pay TV is dying (especially in times of economic uncertainty), but the opposite is true for radio in the time of COVID-19. Radio newsrooms need more investment and resources than ever.

Is the operator of CFRB still paying the power bills on CFRX, its 6070 khz shortwave relay station that was still on the air the last time I checked?

CFRX, a tiny kilowatt, doesn't have much of a power bill.
Does it still have any listeners? I can pick it up on occasion in Arizona, but does it still have a following in its target area(s) in Canada?

I heard it last summer.

Sort of hard to do during a pandemic when just about every business is losing money.
At the rate CFRB (News-Talk 1010 Toronto) is going, why not just restore the days of CKO radio?
Almost all of the content is no longer local. Morning show might be, but everything else seems to go right across Ontario, possibly Canada wide.
