New CP shows WJBB translator on 107.1 FM being moved from Winder to the Braselton tower that carries 97.1 WSRV. More than double the height of the current transmitter should give WJBB a much deserved increase in coverage.

The new transmitter was turned on this week. 107.1 WJBB is sounding GREAT especially in the Braselton area. Local radio at it’s best with a great morning show and music mix! The new signal still has trouble to the south in Gwinnett County where the spanish station translator in Atlanta on 107.1 overpowers WJBB south of the Hamilton Mill area.

W296BB on 107.1 from downtown Atlanta which is a translator to WTSH interferes with WJBB up to approximately exit 120 on I-85. There’s a CP for it to be relocated to Stone Mountain.

That translator (Cox) licensed to Jonesboro will cut into the WJBB (Winder) translator in places that it really shouldn't. I was actually in Winder last weekend and the Cox translator was interferring in and out of the WJBB translator even there, and that is about 8-10 miles from where the WJBB translator is located. The Cox translator is near the Jimmy Carter Center downtown. Of course the 250 watt Cox translator is 899' above ground level. Even then it shouldn't be interferring so badly in downtown Winder. The CP says October 2020 for the Cox (Carter Center) translator to be moved and will have a very directional signal. Let's hope that stays true. The Winder station sounds great for a local small town station.

the cox translator for OSOTR on 97.7 does the same thing to WMGZ in Athens that's happening to WJBB currently. curious to see when 97 BIG FM (WMGZ) finally gets there 100 KW signal from Lexington instead of there current 8.5 KW signal from just outside Eatonton.

The recent height increase to 1412' on the Braselton tower has given the WJBB translator a decent increase in coverage mostly to the north and east, which most likely was the intent. The coverage has also improved in the Mall of Georgia area. I've noticed that the W296BB translator out of Atlanta still overpowers WJBB south of 316 as you get on Sugarloaf Parkway. The coverage map shows WJBB having a strong signal in Lawrenceville, however that's not the case. It almost seems that "LaRaza" is operating well above their licensed 250 watts with a much lower antenna height.

No, purely a daily observation while traveling through the same area towards Lawrenceville in all types of weather. Basing that "observation" on coverage maps. WJBB is not listenable in many areas south of 316 where indicated. I understand that the new antenna is more directional and thus covers the intended areas very well.

Fire, I agree. I live about 15 miles south of Winder (between the 60 and 50 dBU lines), and should have a nice signal from the WJBB translator. However, the Cox translator cuts into WJBB horribly. Even in the little town of Bethlehem (about 6 miles south of Winder, the Cox translator interferres so badly that you can't harly listen to the translator from WJBB.
