'The Talk' on hiatus

CBS' The Talk is taking a brief hiatus from live shows after the network launched a review stemming from last Wednesday's heated debate between Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that The Talk will eschew live shows on Monday and Tuesday as CBS continues to probe the explosive confrontation between Osbourne and Underwood which began with a discussion of Piers Morgan's bitter feud with Meghan Markle and escalated into accusations of racism.

Meh. My guess is they'll take Mon/Tues off to build some buzz, they'll open Wednesday's show with a heartfelt explanation and apology from Osbourne, she and Underwood will tell the audience full of fans screaming like banshees that they've talked it out and are now good with each other, applause will ensue, they'll cut to a break and the show will resume as normal.

That's what happened Thursday.

Several months ago I was searching to find something to watch when I happened upon The Talk. I lasted about 3 or 4 minutes. Wow, I'm not sure who winds the studio audience into such a frenzy or who does the warm up prior to the show, but the time I watched they had some popular male actor on, and since it was a panel and an audience full of women, the guy was showing his more tender and human side. Every time he'd say something, even if it was really a non issue or even a slightly derogatory comment, the audience went CRAZY! Like, literally deafening screams coming from them. I was a bit dumbfounded, then switched it off nearly as quickly as I'd first stumbled onto it.

Evidently the hiatus has been extended for at least a few more days, due to this "expose" about Sharon Osborne's racist attitudes, the way she's acted like a bully and created a toxic work environment. Shocker!

My soap junkie mother still cannot forgive CBS for killing off As the World Turns. Now with these allegations of Sharon's behavior, who knows what happens to The Talk.

Bring back more game shows? :) I'd like to see that happen, but I figure that the worst that will happen is that Sharon Osborne will be fired and replaced with someone new.

Too bad it wasn't "The Talk is out at The Talk; As the World Turns to be revived".
But, dream on.................

Yep, 16 years this September. Hard to believe The Talk has lasted this long, but it's cheaper than a soap.

Let's see if I remember the daytime block in the 80s. Family Feud, Card Sharks, The original Lets Make a Deal, Price is Right, News, Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful, Guiding Light, As the World Turns.

Not terribly surprising and she herself kind of predicted her ouster in recent interviews (pitying herself and referring to herself as a "sacrificial lamb").

I was disappointed when I read the article I'd posted above in post #8. All of us who've worked in broadcasting are aware that many on-air talent are different to at least some extent vs. what they're like in "real life", and what goes on in the studio when the mics are switched off is maybe different than most in the audience would expect, simply based on what they hear over the air, but I'm always very disappointed when someone like Sharon, who presents herself as kind to animals, professional and compassionate, actually acts with spite toward her co-workers, creates a toxic work environment and often acts with less maturity than some middle schoolers.

No Let’s Make a Deal on the network. Syndicated yes. Otherwise depends on the years. Capitol was in there before B and B; Pyramid and others in the game block. Tattletales...Match Game...Press Your Luck...et al
