Classic TV stations (CBS, NBC, ABC etc) don't run their best programs on subs? They could run classic sitcoms & movies - something other than tired old time-fillers and get higher advertising revenue than the junk ads that appear today.
Are you saying those former shows are too expensive? I don't think that answers my question. For instance, channel 3.1 here in Phoenix runs old 'Jeopardy' shows but they are run on the main channel (3.1) as opposed to one of their subs. (3.1 also runs the first-runs of Jeopardy as well and also on 3.1.) Instead of the useless weather report across the state it seems as if they could run something more inviting on their subs.Do you mean former network hit shows? If so, the reason they don't air on subs is because there are rights fees involved, and quite often those shows are tied up with other deals on other channels. For example, just because Friends originally aired on NBC doesn't mean NBC has any rights to it after their initial run. The show belongs to Warner Brothers and even they had to pay to run it on HBO Max.
Demographics reasons and also deals for shows to certain venues in this case streaming. Certain shows that CBS owns directly via CBS Television distribution goes to Paramount+, Universal and MCA Pictures goes to NBC owned Peacock app and shows with the 20th Century Television, ABC Studios, Disney Television and Touchstone goes to Disney+ and Hulu apps. Classic TV in some cases have a deal with the app in question if they own it directly.Classic TV stations (CBS, NBC, ABC etc) don't run their best programs on subs? KTVK airs reruns with Alex Trebek at 12:30 PM. As he looks relatively healthy, my guess is that they're a couple years old at least. They could be. Or as I said they are already being shown on competing channels. Everything that airs on TV has a contract attached to it with rights and fees. When you say "old Jeopardy shows," how old? From 20 years ago, or yesterday? Re-airing recent shows may be covered by their existing rights deal.

Cozi also runs on KTAZ (Telemundo O&O) Channel 39.3. There are a few duplicates in the Phoenix market. That gives me more information. From what I see, KTVK is owned by Meredith, and runs Comet TV on their 3.2, Circle on 3.3 and This TV on 3.4. So the programming from those networks are contracted to air on those channels. There are lots of diginets available for subchannels. Some people prefer Cozi, and it's on KPHO 5.2 They run Charlie's Angels.
Perhaps but it'd be easy enough to dub in generic stuff and if it's not a DVD not many will care, and new viewers won't have a clue anyway.I've heard that shows like the "Wonder Years" and "WKRP In Cincinnati" are not aired anymore because they used music in the shows. It's too expensive in syndication to air them for that reason...
I seem to remember that either the musicians (performers, label, writers - I don't remember) made them too expensive for the music rights or they refused to give them play rights at all. There was a time that WKRP was shown in its original form and I grabbed those. I don't really understand the objection because I don't remember any songs played in their entirety.I've heard that shows like the "Wonder Years" and "WKRP In Cincinnati" are not aired anymore because they used music in the shows. WKRP is aired with mostly generic music replacing the originals. The Shout Factory DVD boxed set has around 85% of the original music. No idea on The Wonder Years.I've heard that shows like the "Wonder Years" and "WKRP In Cincinnati" are not aired anymore because they used music in the shows. I wonder why KTVK runs first run Jeopardy on 3.1 and also older syndicated shows of Jeopardy on 3.1 also but at different times. I would think they'd put the older versions on a subnet instead of the garbage out there now.
Sony has the GetTV diginet.Sony, MGM and Lionsgate I don't know for now where their shows go to given that they have their shows sign for broadcast rights in various places.
