Brother Ralph G. Stair, radio preacher, passes.

I would assume like Gene Scott, his voice will still be heard on WRMI/WWCR?

Wow. I wonder if his ministry will continue despite his death. The few times I've heard his shows recently (last time was about a month or so ago), they sounded like replays from the 1990s or similar old sermons.

Hopefully his programs will end and stations that carried him will be forced to clean up their act. Unfortunately the most likely thing will be that his organization will keep running his programs and stations like WWCR will continue to carry it as long as someone continues to flash enough money in their faces. If Stair and his ilk are the only things keeping U.S. commercial shortwave going, then it is time for those stations to die. And I say this as someone who has been tuning around the shortwave bands for 55 years.

That's my fear. Take the example of Gene Scott, who is still droning away on SW sixteen years after his death, though supplemented by newer recordings made by his widow.

....And, assisted by the old KUSW shortwave transmitter and antenna, that was given to her by TBN 😉 .

Let 'em. Who does it hurt, really? Few are listening, and those who are truly listening (his religious followers in other parts of the US) would just listen to a podcast or whatever other means of broadcasting his ministry would use, if and when the SW connection goes down.

I've heard that at one time, he spent up to $100K a month on SW time. I imagine the bulk of that went to WWCR, WBCQ, and WRMI. He was once in talks with Allan Weiner about building an SW ship to be operated off the Carolina coast.

Definitely agreed.

Stair was a conspiracy nut on the level with Alex Jones. Considering the problem the US is having with conspiracy theorists now at least some of them may have started buying into anti-vaxx and other lies through Stair and other dollar a holler preachers of the same caliber.

If "Christian" stations like WWCR were truly trying to be a ministry instead of trying to make a buck off any crackpot who flashes enough money in their faces they wouldn't have ever allowed nuts like Stair or Alex Jones on.
