Any thoughts?

Just call KITS "Dead 105".
It is really unfortunate to watch Audacy/Entercom completely destroy that legacy brand. I totally get the overarching revenue challenges that they are facing, but still very sad to watch them completely destroy that brand. (I also understand the station has rarely been anything more than a 2 share, but still...)

What happened to KBRG's San Jose numbers?

They went from 6.3 to an N/A.
Either they unsubscribed for that embedded market or Nielsen made another of its many, many mistakes of the last few months... or the site where you looked made a mistake..

It is well within its normal range for the month.

Alt 105.3 is much lower than it usually is. Is there a shortage of new Alternative music? Lately they seem to be playing more music from years ago.

Does the maximum " 2 minute commercial break" indicate lack of advertisers?

Regardless, I still enjoy the station. In particular, I really like Meagan Holiday. She really livens up the station. Mike

No, it is a company policy for Alt stations to try to keep that particular lifestyle and demo from totally defecting to streaming. It's not working.

Michael Martin and Mike "uh...uh...uh..." Kaplan are clearly the wrong people to be running the "Alt" franchise.

How low do the ratings need to go for them to be replaced? The stations in San Francisco, San Diego, Dallas, Detroit, Miami and now even New York are complete dumpster fires!

Having KUSC-FM show up in San Francisco's ratings (not just in this book, but also two books ago) destroys Nielsen's credibility. KUSC is 400 miles south, in Los Angeles. It cannot be picked up in S.F.

Lots of out of market stations show up. Usually it is due to a diary keeper or metered person being out of town.

Since SF is a metered market, it could be a college student or a person on a work assignment.. or two... that is a heavy listener. The data leads me to believe that it may be just two metered persons causing the station to show.

The station has shown up anywhere from 47th to 67th in recent months. There are over 100 stations that have shown up in the last year, many of them from out of market.

My famous case was having WZNT in San Juan show up in the Winter 1979 book in New York City. Enough holiday visitors to the Island from NY listened and remembered to get a 0.1 in that book! Of course the station got a 37.5 share in March in the local PR ratings, so it was wildly popular and visitors would have heard it.

Very interesting, David. Thanks for that explanation.

The University of Southern California also owns the KDFC stations, so there was probably confusion between KDFC and KUSC. (KDFC and KUSC play the same music during the overnight hours but are locally programmed during the daytime.)

They do have a translator on 90.3 in the South Bay that they acquired before they bought 104.9. Could the primary for that translator (and therefore the PPM codes) be KUSC?
