KHPT HD3

It is identifying itself as Radio Aliento 106.9 FM KHPT Conroe Houston 106.9 HD3
What would be the best meaning of the name in this context? Aliento can be translated as breath, encouragement, or courage. There are some religious stations named "Radio Aliento de Vida" or "Breath of Life."

Could be Breath or encouragement. Courage would be more like VALOR or Valentía.
I wonder if they’re planning to lease a translator of some sort. Being on HD wouldn’t help much.

Señor Tejano, That's easy! I would be willing to bet that station belongs to Cesar Guel,Centro Cristiano"The good Pastor" Hector Guevara or Gabriel Arango.

That would be interesting if they get an HD station that isn’t playing one of their translators that’s originating programming.

Agree, why would they lease an HD and not have one of their stations?

Same reason why businesses...err...I mean churches lease subchannels from obscure TV stations with limited coverage that nobody watches. Any avenue that can reach people will be used for as long as there is a good ROI.

I'm pretty sure this is just a church trying to get into the lucrative religious radio game. It probably won't last long due to the fact that the dial is already saturated with shifty religious programming and no one uses HD Radio. For Cox, they're not losing any skin off their back. Once the checks start bouncing, the subchannel can be easily turned off.

They also get a huge discount from the full power fm Nonprofit stations. Nonprofit stations many times don't even charge for the use of the HD.

There is a Radio Aliento on 100.7 on an LPFM in Kansas City. Radio Aliento Kansas – La que viene del Cielo!

I think they also are on 91.9 in Garden City Kansas, at least from their announcements when I listened and my not really understanding much Spanish.
