97 rock steps in it, fresh start

Inquiry:

In 1993, this could totally happen.

in 2021, could it ?
Bull, Rich G, cuts ties with Cumulus...
professionally, and waits out a no compete clause, if applicable and moves to ...
pick a city, say D.C. and "starts over"

or, maybe needs to go a city smaller than Buffalo, and outside of NY and PA. . .
and gets a fresh start.

Cumulus recognize he still is money and just rebrands him - and moves him to a Cumulus station, say in California - along with a memo " no mention of this incident"
?

legit curiosity... board, as always,
please be kind - high 5 and a hearty
handshake.

This assumes that these Buffalo folks would be accepted by listeners in a market where no one knows them or their history. Plus Lederman & crew would have to be willing to leave their home base. Not always easy to do.

One of the hardest things to do is launch a new personality show. I've seen dozens of popular talents try to take their act to other markets, only to fail. The act doesn't always translate to other cities.

But something like this is happening right now with a former sports talk show host named Josh Innes:

theBigA
think that Houston guy fits in here ?

I always thought a Rock 'N Sports format
Rockin' Sportz, get it)
( ie: 97/103.3) had that with the Bills and still playing music. If they added one more sports team to the format, ( bandits would have been perfect... think 1520 really cared about them, lol ) or, better yet
Major League Baseball:
Not too many stations here consistently carry baseball. esp on FM.
( Sports radio is a whole lot of talk )

Rock and Sports,
Rock 'N Sports

Interesting. There had been an FM in Austin, Texas that ran Sportstalk in morning and afternoon drive but classic rock in midday and nights. The might have had an evening sports show and possibly went all sportstalk after a certain hour at night through the overnights. You might be thinking sports talk and music mixed within an hour but these guys, for at least a while, seemed to segregate by daypart.

that is Perfect.
* IF classic rock is, by definition 1985 - 1991
and not dinosaur rock, ie: 60s, 70s

I don't think a controversial morning show has been fired upward since....hmmmm.....what, since 1998? And that show wasn't all that great to begin with.

Anything 97 rock spits out, if there is such great value, WBUF would most likely snatch it up, no?
