Jill Kempton To Program KOST

iHeartMeda AC 97.1 WASH Washington Program Director Jill Kempton is moving to Los Angeles to program AC 103.5 KOST.

Kempton, who joined WASH in November 2017, will continue to program that station remotely. She will give up the programming duties for Soft AC “106.1 The Breeze” WISX Philadelphia. Prior to joining WASH, Kempton spent five and a half years as Assistant PD/Music Director/Imaging Director for AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW New York after working for eight years at Jerry Lee Broadcasting AC “B101” WBEB Philadelphia.

Another iHeart loyalist getting rewarded. I'm sure she's a terrific person, but obviously there was no real search for a new PD. Plus, it's not like she's actually going to do much other than make sure that logs are in each day and that the corporate game plan is implemented.

If Audacy could ever get out of their own way long enough, they'd see that they have an golden opportunity with a Soft AC, similar to how KOST was programmed back in the day (with heavy Hispanic influence). 97.1 is a prime candidate.

I would say KTWV fills that role for Audacy! If they launched another AC station, that would absolutely impact KTWV. For the ethnic composition of LA, it definitely fills the soft position.

I agree. KTWV today is LA’s soft AC for the very multi-ethnic community.

Yep. Audacy puts up strong adult numbers already. I really don't see an upside to taking on KOST in a head to head battle. It's the younger demos they need to find a way to appeal to in order to grow their overall share of the market.
