It's odd that the Big Three from SLC (which served northeast Nevada) weren't included.

Also odd that KCRA was included but not KXTV or KOVR (the CBS and ABC affiliates from Sacramento).

It's odd that the Big Three from SLC (which served northeast Nevada) weren't included.
My 1974 Nevada edition didn't include them either. Probably people in NE Nevada got the Utah edition, since edition lines didn't always follow state lines. For example, I have a TV Guide postmarked from Idaho, but it's of the Eastern Washington edition instead of the Utah-Idaho edition. That's because that area got Spokane stations.

In 1991, Las Vegas was too small to have four independent stations (that included KVVU, which basically was still being programmed as an independent). KBLR was really scraping the bottom of the barrel for programming, with public domain movies (I think "Movie Greats Network" aired on that station) and odd specials.

Also, I noticed the trend of KVVU and KRLR re-airing their primetime movie late at night. I'm taking the wild guess that the late-night airing was uncut, at least on KRLR.

It's not that Vegas was too small, it was that there was not enough programming to go around for four different indies. I can post the weekend schedules soon.

It's not that Vegas was too small, it was that there was not enough programming to go around for four different indies. I can post the weekend schedules soon.

Las Vegas was a slightly smaller market than Tucson in 1991, and the latter didn't have two profitable indies at that time. I would imagine KVVU and KRLR were both making some kind of money at the time, but not KFBT (which had a few watchable shows and a lot of infomercials) or KBLR. Running old movies and low-end product with no infomercials was risky for KBLR, and I don't think they stayed on the air much longer after this listing under the original ownership.

Looking closer at the movies, it looked like KTNV aired "Movie Greats Network" (unless they had a separate library of public domain movies) but KBLR ran PD titles that were part of the same package. I'd like to see the weekend schedule.

KBLR went to Telemundo in 1993, so they would have likely kept the public-domain movies and terrible programming up until then. I'm surprised they didn't air home shopping part of the day, as a lot of low-budget indies did that.

KBLR went to Telemundo in 1993, so they would have likely kept the public-domain movies and terrible programming up until then. I'm surprised they didn't air home shopping part of the day, as a lot of low-budget indies did that.
I may be wrong, but according to the Television Factbook on worldradiohistory.com, it did not list KBLR in 1993, so I suspect they went dark for some time between these listings and when the station was sold and became Telemundo. I wouldn't be surprised if it did.
