KOAN Anchorage 1080 AM

KOAN AM 1080 currently broadcasts a placeholder format , with Spanish-language music and English announcements. You can hear them at http://ice10.securenetsystems.net/KOAN or a local WebSDR receiver. Of note, the outfit's recent petition to relocate to the old AM 700 KBYR tower was dismissed by the FCC on March 19, 2021. The current site is subject to intermod and mis-matches caused by changing wetlands conditions (freeze, thaw, etc.) . After all, this is Alaska.

(The station was supposedly to be sold but no paperwork has yet been filed.. )

Not a placeholder format.. it was sold last fall and the proposed new owners are a spanish company.

It was sold because the previous owner was going to run for mayor.

If it was sold to a Spanish company, I can't find any filing requesting a waiver of the foreign ownership limits.
