The Breakfast Club Going To Z93

Starting May 3rd, The Breakfast Club will be airing on Z93 in Charleston. It currently airs on 99.3/99.7 HD2 The Box. So what's next for The Box??? (The Rickey Smiley Morning Show which was on Z93 went to their sister station Magic 107.3 a couple weeks ago.)

I hope someone from Charleston Radio Group see’s this post. 99.3 THE BOX is in need of a major overhaul and suffers from a identity crisis.

Lets start with the positioner, “Charleston’s #1 Party Station.” No street presence, no nightclub remotes, a 30 minute mixshow at 5pm so.... where is the “Party” ?? This has been that way years before Covid. This positioner also fits a Rhythmic station and 99.3’s playlist is Urban with way too many older R&B sprinkled in. Who’s idea was it to add syndicated Tino Cochino at 10pm?

99.3 formerly 92.5 THE BOX started off sounding like a major market station with Rickey Smiley yearsss ago. Over the years, THE BOX died and returned to the local translator at 99.3. Nowadays it’s basically a combo sell to advertisers with Star 99.7 and a flanker to keep Star on top of Z93.

Mornings now have a vacancy. We know it won’t be local so options are The Morning Hustle (more than likely) or the new syndicated Streetz Morning Takeover with Yung Joc. I hope it’s not something from the West Coast like Nick Cannon or Big Boy.

Middays 10-2 are also vacant since Courtney The Poet is no longer there. A local female talent with radio skills is all that is needed. Music intensive with a midday mixshow and entertainment news.

Afternoons 2-6 DJ Tantrum is local in house. Music intensive show, but some interactions with listeners would be nice.

Nights 6-10 I dont know who’s there, I think a local female named Drea. It’s way too many well knows hip hip Djs that could takeover nights especially since Z93 has no night jock. They could do syndicated to since Posted on The Corner is now in syndication from ATL and Radio One for nights on Urban radio.

Is it live or one day late like Big Boy was?
I don’t believe Nick Cannon has debuted yet. His show also airs in morning in Louisville KY but considering the timezone difference to LA i would think it’s not Live. His show is being shopped for afternoon syndication.

I miss 92.5 The Box and even the station before which was B 92.
That’s when Apex was running things and i think Michael Tee, Jay Tek and Sean Mack was programming. 92.5 THE BOX was the best competition to Z93. Im suprised iHear didn’t find a way to launch an Urban station to air The Breakfast Club. They once had Urban in Charleston as Power 94.3.

WRFQ 104.5 HD2 is iHeart's HipHop Workout station.
