WBCN and the American Revolution airing on GBH 44

The documentary covers the years 1968-1974. It airs tonight at 8PM, in case you missed the previous airings this week.

I did not know J.J. Jackson got his start (?) there. Also didn't know he was dead (or I forgot). Where was he from originally: they didn't say how he got to Boston just that he was there at the beginning.

I did know about the thing with Jerry. It was more of a joke. At that time most cars didn't have FM yet. But nights at BCN might have been a threat to Jerry on some level so he made fun of them.

Wasn't JJ Jackson a WRKO Jock.....as well as a WBCN jock at one time? Seems those stations and jock style would be polar opposites.

There were a couple of JJs at WRKO: JJ Jeffrey and JJ Jordan. But not Jackson.

Several famous Top 40 jocks made the transition to rock at that time. One of the first was Tom Donohue in San Francisco.

I have a 1996 recording of The Band from Las Vegas from a Westwood One nationally syndicated broadcast, and the host is JJ Jackson.

You can currently hear J.J. Wright's voice doing the top-of-hour station ID's, and some other recorded station liners, on 1510 WMEX.
