KKDJ/Fresno Debuts New On-Air Lineup

So how are they feeding a translator in Fresno on 102.3 with an LPFM on 100.7 in Hanford?

They mention 102.3 and 100.7

That 100.7 is KNGS-LP Hanford.

The 102.3 is a Fresno translator.

It has to be fed over the air.

Problem.

There's a 100.7 translator in Fresno owned by someone else.

The Hanford station is a non-comm I believe.

No duh lol.. an LPFM is always non commercial.. but the translator has to be fed over the air.

They do run commercials, and is fed from Fresno via internet from Cocola Broadcasting at Herndon and Palm.

That... isnt legal

That particular owner and set of stations has seemingly not been able to stay "inside the solid yellow lines" for some time. I wonder how he is justifying commercials on a translator fed by an LPFM which can not run any commercials.

I'd say that a gift of a station on 1240 AM in Monterrey is rather similar to that old gift of the Trojan Horse.

The 102.3 translator is owned by Gary Cocola who also owns 1 full power TV station KGMC 43 with several sub channels and many LPTV stations in the valley, Fresno and Bakersfield including KKDJ ch. 27 Classic Music Videos and they took over KAIL 53 My Network programming on 53.1 a sub channel on ch43 after KAIL sold 7.1 to a religious broadcaster, maybe FCC gave them a waiver of some sort.

AND LPTVs in other states. All told, Cocola must have dozens of LPTVs.

The 200' antenna for Monterey's 1240 is planted right at the high tide line in the middle of the beach at Cannery Row. That parcel has got to be worth a pretty penny.

Tucked in behind Ghirardelli and the water, inside a small square concrete wall---maybe 20' by 20'---not sure what you could build there. Also not sure it's owned by the license holder of the radio station. Might have been a long-term lease. It's been there since 1949, and the most recent times the station sold for money, it certainly didn't reflect any land value.

This may have been posted twice; my mistake and I'm sorry. Anyway, broadcasting from world famous Cannery Row by way of Seaside...
