"You're Caller #9! You've won...a baby!!"

it has been done before, but my question is since it usually takes multiple attempts to do IVF, is the contest a one round deal where they will get hopes up and then hook people for the next 4 or 5 rounds at considerable expense or is it a full service to completion deal?

Mojo In The Morning, WKQI has done it a few times IIRC

a station in Florida has done it

well you know who a stations P1 is from that contest .... it isn't 55 to dead that's for sure... vasectomy contests end up there, especially in Florida where guys way too old for the trophy wife they bagged get them to make sure they can get get divorced when they realize their mistake without child support being taken out of their social security checks. The number of vasectomy clinic billboards and ads are only exceeded by the number of Morgan & Morgan ads where I live in SW Florida

That's what I was thinking: Give away a single $10,000 IVF treatment. If it doesn't take, like the first usually don't, then the winner is on the hook for any additional treatments. The contest is really all about getting some promotional market buzz by giving away something outrageous. Oh, and even the first treatment will be taxable. Winning contestant will be on the hook for those.

Credit when credit is due, this is some very creative marketing and will turn some heads. If nothing else, that is a massive step up from where 106.1 was before Jubal arrived. Like everyone else has mentioned already, however, there are complications that will likely come up.

Absolutely! If you consider a treatment is in the neighborhood of less than $50K, that's a lot of promotional bang for the buck. Giving away medical-anything though is risky. Something like this could completely backfire in a horrifying way. Having a child is a very sensitive and emotional subject, particularly if the couple has been trying for a while. You run the risk of being hit with a emotionally distressed-related lawsuit.

Very true. When you consider that 106.1 didn't even have any branding before Jubal showed up, this is a huge upgrade in the creativity department. It seems like there would be significant risk involved with a contest like this. I didn't realize that IVE could cost that much. Not a bad prize to win by any stretch... as long as you understand that no outcomes are guaranteed. Listeners don't always seem to get that memo when participating in these contests.

MMMM...kay. Very interesting. I remember a "Breeder's Cup" (which got us a C&D from the real Breeder's Cup) where couples competed to get pregnant the usual way, but nothing like this.
