92.1 Bakersfield

It appears that rhythmic CHR Q92.1 has been replaced with Classic Hits 92.1. The old q921radio.com website is still active and with the old branding. I haven't found a website or any social media accounts for the new format. The playlist history shows that they flipped formats at midnight.

I haven't been able to get the live stream going to hear the new sound.

You are correct, the station flipped formats and is now "Q92.1 Bakersfield's Classic Hits"

On August 5th, they previewed this format for a few hours in the morning but without any branding or ad breaks. But now it appears to be permanent: they have station intros and commercial breaks.
The call letters remain KQKZ

Songs played include:
Baby I Love Your Ways - Peter Frampton
Throwing It All Away - Genesis
One Of These Nights - Eagles
Big Shot - Billy Joel
Hey Nineteen - Steeley Dan
Shiny Happy People - REM
Rosanna - Toto
The Deeper The Love - Whitesnake
Dancing Queen - ABBA
We Didn't Start The Fire - Billy Joel
Footloose - Kenny Loggins
Hungry Heart - Bruce Springsteen

Great station! It’s not moving the dial though… I wonder why?

A quick glance at the playlist looks pretty old for Bakersfield. Kern County is maybe 10% 65+, and Bakersfield is 55% Hispanic. They need to tighten that playlist to the biggest hits that both whites and Hispanics love, much in the way KRTH has done. Tiny playlist on KRTH, but it's been working for awhile.

92.1's playlist looks a bit deep and the flow is strange. Etta James into Motley Crue into McCartney? Yikes.

10am hour one day last week had Maria Muldour "Midnight at the Oasis" into Tom Petty "You Got Lucky" into Dr. Hook "Sharing the Night Together." That's rough if you're trying to be mass appeal which Classic Hits needs to be. Lot of "who cares" songs on this station.

Again, this was based on a quick, 5-minute glance at their playlist . . . I have not studied the station nor listened. My hasty assessment could be off.
