WCBS-TV & WNBC-TV celebrating 80 years!!!

On July 1, 2021, two local tv station in New York City, WCBS-TV & WNBC-TV will both celebrating their 80th anniversaries, becoming not only the first two local commercial television stations to sign on the air in New York City, but in the United States.

Yes and also didn't WCBS and WNBC started out their TV station under different call letters such as WCBW-TV New York made by CBS and WNBT/WRCA-TV under NBC when they signed on. But they had the same owners the entire time though.

WX2BS was the call sign for the experimental station that became WNBT.

The FCC intended for both stations to sign on at the same time, but technical problems caused WCBS to sign on an hour later.
