Yes it’s on HD-3 also.

Sounds like a 6 month format.
There is a coming explosion in the amount of gambling oriented radio, television, and online content. Media companies and the sports industry are desperate for new revenue streams, and see betting as a cash cow waiting to be milked.

I had been curious if BetQL would be launched anywhere in Texas, as there is very little gambling industry here due to state law. That atmosphere could change as local and state governments look for money. "Better than raising taxes" will be the politicians' argument in favor.

While I agree 100% on whether this will be a win in Houston with Texas' gambling restrictions, I'd give them the credit for trying something new. The Bet and BIN are both giving new reasons to tune in to AM radio, perhaps with the gamble that unique content will drive listeners despite shaky sound quality.

Here's another thought -- sports betting would seem to require timely content. If a big game is coming up and odds are changing in real time, 650 The Bet could fill a need, as opposed to a podcast with outdated information.

(Unless, of course, the game was after sunset, then 95.7 HD-3 The Bet could fill the need.)

I'm tempted to Bet that "The Bet" will not exceed ratings for the current CBS Sports Radio format. But, going from 0.0 to 0.1 for KIKK might win that Bet, so Audacy has little to lose with the new "wager-tainment" experiment.
"I'll see that and raise ya 2 cents."
"AND NOW, this late breaking betting news..." Oh crap, 650 just signed off at sunset and FM 95.7 HD-3 is not receivable in most homes and many vehicles.
