iHeartMedia Houston Debuts New Lineup for KPRC-AM 950

https://news.****************/articles/c41230/iHeartMedia-Houston-Debuts-New-Lineup-for-KPRC-AM-950

KPRC-AM (950 Real Texas, Real Talk)/Houston rolls out a new weekday lineup, effective June 28. "The Jesse Kelly Show," syndicated by Premiere Networks, will join KPRC from 5-8pm CT.

"Kelly, a U.S. Marine combat veteran, brings an exciting new perspective on the day's events," said KPRC Director of AM Programming Bryan Erickson. "He's a unique and fresh voice in the talk radio landscape and one of the most entertaining guys I've ever heard."

They've had Jesse Kelly on for a long time, I guess this is a new time or a longer daypart commitment.
"Radio Mojo" was thankfully abandoned in 2013 in favor of the current "Real-Texas-Real-Talk."

Real Texas, Real Talk? Yes, there are a number of Texas-based shows on the station. But they are either nationally syndicated or brokered. The morning show is "Walton & Johnson," based at KPRC but nationally syndicated. And the evening slot is occupied by "The Jesse Kelly Show," also based at KPRC but nationally syndicated.

Some midday hours are also based at the station but are brokered. They are one or two hour offerings with the time paid for by the host. So the only time anyone is specifically talking about Texas is if it would interest a national audience, or can be used to sell some sort of product or service during the brokered time slots.

Doesn't this station earn something like a 0.3 or 0.4 share?
KPRC 950 has pretty much been an irrelevance since it was spun off from the TV station after H&C got out of the broadcasting business. Pretty much C and D-list right wing talk. Did okay in the brief time it had Rush Limbaugh. Don't think the new signal is going to make any difference once it hits the air.

Wonder if the Hobby family ever regretted dumping KPRC-FM in the late 1950's?
