KVLI Lake Isabella AM 1140

Here's some news for the Lake Isabella region. Alta Sierra Broadcasting's KVLI AM 1140 and cross-service translator K279CZ 103.7MHz have apparently switched formats.

KVLI is now known as "Outlaw Country". They stream at : http://streaming.rubinbroadcasting.com/kvli.m3u

The FCC approved K279CZ's re-location to a new site on May 19,2021. A very thorough engineering filing (well worth the "techie read") can be found here:

https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/api/download/attachment/25076ff379159e6e01791871923f0056

(It's listed as "Master Engineering Packet for K279CZ - Lake Isabella, CA.pdf" into the master FCC record.)

The AM signal reaches into Bakersfield and the new FM site offers much greater reach.

A postscript... At least "The Outlaw" streams on the Internet as opposed to the Bakersfield - Buck Owens' KCWR outlet .. Only two of the three Buck Ownes Productions' stations have websites that offering streaming audio: KUZZ, KRJK. . KCWR has a frankly stale Facebook page ... that's it.

The new translator is now in service.
While on paper, the FM signal reaches Bakersfield, it is completely unlistenable because of picket fencing with KFBP. This was true on both sides of town.
I rarely visit the Kern River Valley so I can't say how much coverage in that area has improved.

KLVI has less than 15,000 persons in its 5 mV/m contour. It has no reach anywhere near Bakersfield.

The FM can't get a 60 dbu anywhere there exists a significant population.
