WADL Gets Detroit’s MyNetworkTV Affiliation

WADL Detroit has secured the market’s MyNetworkTV affiliation, and will make the switch Sep. 20. WMYD, known as TV20 and owned by Scripps, is the current MyNetworkTV station in Detroit.

WADL still has that crappy signal though.

It will be interesting to see which Scripps owned network will move to WMYD-TV though. I knew Scripps owned CourtTV, Newsy, Ion are the big ones though.

It's rather presumptuous to think that WMYD would replace MyNetworkTV with one of the Scripps diginets, given that they're all 24/7 operations and MyTV only makes up two hours of programming, five nights a week. They'll simply back go back to being an independent station, and more than likely give WXYZ more incentive to add more news on WMYD (or whatever calls Channel 20 will have going forward). For what it's worth, Scripps already operates two independents--KMCI in Kansas City and recently-acquired KCDO in the Denver DMA.
