June numbers are here

June numbers: Houston/Galveston - RadioInsight

Only big eyecatcher was the big drop for 93Q. But not much change on the other two Country stations.

I still think the listing for KTWL is actually K287BQ.

And KROI sinks into the low zeroes in the first full month of the Praise format. Still suspect the format is a placeholder, possibly pending a sale.

KTRH has been in free fall since January. Anyone know the cume from back in January? I’d be interested if their existing listeners are listening less, or if there’s a free fall of listeners too.

On the positive side for iHeart, listenership for KPRC has more than doubled since January, so I guess the “Real Texas Talk” has its fans.

Saw the numbers earlier but wanted to wait for you to post about it. Ratings posts are your thing. Didn’t want to steal.
And I noticed how KLOL had a big push making it the second most listened to Spanish language station .

Elections are over and Rush passed away. I'm guessing it's a little bit of both. Some listeners were probably sticking around for the election coverage while others aren't engaging as much now that Rush is gone.

It's been interesting to see how several stations across the country are dealing with the ending of Rush Limbaugh. I'm not sure Sexton and Travis are the right replacement for Rush's brazen style.

Who could be the next Limbaugh?

KUHF also covered the election extensively, but their numbers are more or less flat since January. KTRH has also been a slow drop-off, rather than an immediately collapse after the inauguration and the start of “best of Rush”. I’d be interested if listeners are slowly listening less or slowly jumping ship.

KUHF tends to cater to the left leaning crowd while KTRH caters conservatives.

There's not much going on at the moment to invigorate right leaning listeners.

I have a feeling that the Ransomware incident at CMG caused the drop for KKBQ... their stream was dead for several weeks during this book, and I don't see a separate stream reporting line for them.

According to AllAccess.com, the January Age 6+ market share for KTRH AM 740 was 7.5 (now 4.5, a drop of 40%) and the January cume was 528,000 (now 431,100, a drop of 18%). Post-election, post-inauguration, post-Rush Limbaugh.

Over the same time period, KPRC AM 950 went from a market share of 0.2 up to 0.5 (150% increase), although dealing in tiny numbers can yield big percentage gains. The KPRC cume went from 68,200 to 74,300 (9% increase).

The other commercial Houston talk station, KNTH AM 1070, does not appear, so maybe Salem Media does not participate in the Nielsen ratings.

Non-commercial KUHF FM 88.7 was virtually unchanged over the period at 2.7/2.8 share and 337.000/333,000 cume.

Odd summary: KTRH drops bigtime, KPRC leaps forward, and KUHF goes nowhere.

That's well within the margin of error of the survey and sample size. A 0.1 or a 0.9 or a 0.5 are likely the same.

Those of us who see the weekly numbers know that major stations wobble around +/- as much as a full share. When averaged over a 4 week book, it is more stable. And that is why advertisers look at multi-book averages.

And, most important, this is why ratings are called "audience estimates".

Party in opposition to the President has a lot to invigorate. I noticed left leaning media boomed during Trump and the right leaning media boomed under Obama for this reason.

Shocking this isn’t happening right now for right-leaning listeners.
