iHeartMedia Donates Dayton Pair From Aloha Stations Trust

Would love to see 106.5's classic hits format move to either 99.9 or 103.9.

If it were to relocate to 99.9, then the CHR/Pop almost assuredly would bump low rated, failing "Alt" from 103.9.

I think the much more likely possibility is 99.9 stays put, and Alt 103.9 goes bye-bye to make room for Classic Hits.

Isn't this the same outfit that just picked up 106.5 on the west side of Toledo?

Too bad about the Dayton area 106.5; that signal has a big footprint and provides quality programming to rural areas whose OTA options are fairly limited.

If iHM foolishly dumps classic hits from its cluster, that creates an opportunity for 92.9 and 95.3/101.1 for sure.

It will be interesting to see what iHeart does with their remaining stations and which see a format change. Part of me can't see them dumping country in the market since they have been programming 94.5 to be a thorn to power house K 99.1. Oldies was always an interesting choice (I know they call it classic hits now days) for 106.5 will be interesting to see where that ends up.. I could see 103.9 going classic hits.

I had just mentioned the Aloha Trust Dayton stations on another thread today, I was thinking this trust arrangement has to be going on 20 years. Delmarva has salvaged donations of other trust spin-offs, including Richmond, Albequerque and Toledo. iHeart guarantees there will not be another commercial competitor in town, but how many religious stations will there be? From a service standpoint, losing that Greenville signal has got to hurt those listeners, who don't have a lot of choices. Delmarva's corporate website is almost blank so no real clues there.

Format wise in Dayton, I agree Alternative is likely kaput and Classic Hits will end up there. The redundant Country station will probably go away completely, and I imagine CHR will stay put.

Completely agree.

It appears that the transfer is complete or nearly complete.I figured Kim Faris's retirement date coincided with it. Any on-air changes yet?

When listening around noon today, B94.5 Ota was playing a simulcast of Big 106.5. Online stream was still B94.5 and country. I didn't listen long enough for a legal ID.

Wonder what this means for Christmas music in the Dayton area, I believe 106.5 was it for the market for the past few years.

It will be interesting to see where iHeart plugs in the Christmas Music this year... Could they flip 103.9 or 107.7 for Christmas.. They don't really have many options. I do not see them touching 99.9 but anything is possible out of iHeart.

Was in Dayton over the weekend and 94.5 was running a loop of conspiracy err conserve talkers mostly airing bits about the president and the COVID pandemic with an ID advertising as 945dayton.com every once in awhile.

106.5 was airing dead air when I tuned in but eventually an hour or so later returned to airing preaching/teaching.
