WMMR - Sheryl Crow?!?

Sheryl Crow on WMMR? I heard "All I wanna Do" on 93.3 WMMR. While I get it's a mainstream rock/roots rock station, never in my life did I think her music would be played on a rock station. Adult Hits, Hot AC, AAA and Classic Hits, fine.

I'm looking at the station's playlist going back to 6 a.m., no sign of that song. Maybe a snippet was played as part of an ad?

WMMR is definitely a unique animal, seems to be a sort of AAA/Active Rock hybrid. And hey, if it works for Philly, more power to them.

And when Y100 met its demise, they started spiking in some Alt stuff to win the listeners over. I remember a sudden boost in things like Green Day and Blink 182. Not that they didn't play them before, but they became a little more prevelant.

Exactly what I love about WMMR. 90% of the playlist is pretty much what I'd expect from a 2021 heritage rock station, but they always drop in a decent number of off-the-wall and deep cuts.

Blocks of The Hooters, Grateful Dead, etc. during mid-days. The "top 200 essential rock songs" feature from a few weeks ago during the 4pm hour, where they played everything from Chuck Berry to Slayer. After 7pm, Jackie Bam Bam always drops in 1-2 random tracks an hour that line up with birthdays, song history anniversaries, etc. I'm betting "All I Wanna Do" fit in that category.

Can't wait for their annual "Back to School A -> Z" in a couple weeks. Hands down, my favorite week of radio.

What about when Pierre Robert throws on a Frank Sinatra song? That happens every once and awhile and it's cool to hear Sinatra coming out of my radio tuned to the mighty 'MMR.
