Q104.3 25th birthday programming July 1

Can't believe no one has posted this either here or at the dentist board...

Q104.3 (WAXQ) is doing special programming all day Thursday, July 1 in celebration of its 25th birthday. There will be numerous special guests in the morning show and retrospective features all day. The station will also replay the first Scott Muni Show from December 1998 in its entirety.

This sort of special day of programming doesn't happen all that often in radio any more, it would be a shame to let it go by without a mention.

25?

They came on the air right before the time my grandfather died December 23rd, 1993.

July 1, 2021 would have had no relevance to a 25 year birthday of the station.

December 2021 will be 28th year of WAXQ.

That should answer your question, Rip van winkle.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

It might do well for us here to find access to the demo response in those dayparts.

Alas ...... THEY probably have privy to the info, but we'll never know.

And don't forget too that this station was also once Progressive Rock station WQIV....a really outstanding Progressive Rock station during it's short life span back in 1974/1975....Broadcasting in quadraphonic and known as Quad 104 as I recall...

But WAXQ and WQIV are unrelated. I wouldn't include the two together. However, I do laugh when I hear WQIV's launch with ELO's version of "Roll Over Beethoven."

You have a point....I was making more of a point on the history of Rock stations on 104.3 in NYC....Most people would not be aware that there was another one before WAXQ....
