XTRA 106.3/Atlanta Extends Morning Show

https://news.****************/articles/c41257/XTRA-1063-Atlanta-Extends-Morning-Show

Dickey Broadcasting Company announced today that XTRA 106.3FM - Atlanta's Most Conservative News & Talk Station - will extend their morning show, The Morning XTRA, to five days per week. The show is hosted by Lt. Colonel Mark Zinno, and Atlanta Radio Veterans, Tug Cowart and Scott "Rhino" Rheinhold.

Since its launch in mid-April, the Morning XTRA has spoken with political insiders, pundits, candidates, and many of our current government leaders. This list includes, Current US House of Representative Barry Loudermilk, former Speaker of US House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, former US Secretary of Health and Human Services Tom Price, Current Georgia State Attorney Chris Carr, Republican Governor Candidate Vernon Jones, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, former US Senator Kelly Loeffler, Fox News contributor Joey Jones, and Governor Brian Kemp.

I realize conservative talk is not a strictly Republican thing. But what little I have heard on 106.3 is only tolerable to a Congresswoman’s Green Republican*. Cobb county has a population of around 760,000. Ten years ago, you could have made a living doing “Republican Radio” as Cobb was solid Republican. But Cobb is now considered “Purple” if not Blue as a result of the last election. Cobb County even has a Democratic Sheriff. Assuming a 50 % split you have around 380,000 potential folks that enjoy hosts bashing Democrats in the 106.3’s 60 DB**. According to Nielson, Atlanta has a 4.9 million population. Mathematically they have the potential to cover less than 8% of the market with conservative talk verses WSB’s 95.5 and 750 total market coverage. I doubt the agencies are calling them wanting to buy flights. If they could get a FM signal in Congresswoman’s Green district** they could have something. I would suggest they would LMA FM signals north and west of Marietta. Cartersville, Canton and Douglas counties have PPM folks. If you wanted to do a “network” add Rome and Dalton FM signals. There is potential there, whether they can get the signals is another story.

*I am not bashing Republicans; I have voted in the Republican primaries for the last 2 decades.

I still hear promos for 106.3 on 680 The Fan that say WSB fired Rush Limbaugh. How do you fire a dead person? I know, they dropped the show that was playing sound bites from Rush.

Agreed. Except for Beck when he's not getting all conspiracy-minded. And I like the conservative talkers on WSB (except for Mark Arum, but that's an issue with the style/format of his show).

I made the same comment to a 680 host and Mark Zinno on Twitter. The response was: “Nuance… they dropped the network at the time when the plan was to continue to air the show in the form of his audio with a guest host.”

Looks like Zinno is no longer part of the station. He’s off the station website and no longer mentions being a political talker on his Twitter bio.
