I noticed that the former frequency home of WRKT ERIE PA ROCKET 101 got sold to Erie Radio company for $50,000. The tower is now located in Westfield NY. I was under the assumption it was located in Ripley NY but I could be wrong. Does anyone know anything about this and what kind of station these guys will be doing?
 
Isn't Erie Radio Company owned by Rick Rambaldo who once owned Rocket 101?

It is. They sold WEHP(Happi 92.7)to SJL of Pennsylvania(it's a sister company of Lilly Broadcasting, which owns WICU-TV & WSEE-TV in Erie as well as a few stations in Warren, PA and WENY-TV in Elmira,NY)a few years ago; they retained the rights to the Happi moniker, but they also gave Lilly a royalty-free license to use that positioner in perpetuity. The calls were switched to WICU-FM at the end of 2019. (Sidebar: for whatever reason, we don't know what the ratings are for Happi 92.7; my guess is they don't subscribe to the Nielsen books(the spring one just came out). Then again, Happi has won the Erie Reader poll for Best Radio Station in Erie for 5 years running.)

To answer the OP: As far as I know, the FCC has put the 100.9 frequency back in the pool for auction later this year. Rambaldo didn't win that frequency in last year's auction.
