No longer “Hot” in Denver…

What station is this referring to ?

KFCO 107.1

But taking 5 seconds to hit google with "Hot radio denver" wouldve also given you an answer

Oh yeah that station nobody listens too hardly hopefully they go with a format like smooth jazz or some niche format this market doesn't have something different.

Smooth Jazz aged out over a decade ago. It's not coming back, although formats like the current one on The Wave in LA are sort of the heritage of that format. But they require a significant Black and Hispanic population to work well.

What would you suggest for a market that already has multiple top 40 rock spanish and sports stations as well as a rap station that cant be competed with and fm talk station currently in place.

"Spanish" is a language, not a format. There are a variety of viable Spanish language formats, not all of which are being used in Denver.

KFCO is currently rated #30. It is a rimshot, with its tower about 40 miles east of Denver. But it does broadcast at almost 100,000 watts from that transmitter. And it has a 20,000 watt booster on 107.1 in Aurora, a suburb of Denver.

It's hard to compete in the Top 40 arena with iHeart's KPTT 95.7 and Audacy's Rhythmic KQKS 107.5. This frequency was once home to Denver's version of Jack FM. Jack does so well in LA, Dallas, Seattle, etc. Maybe another try?

Random question how does a booster signal work? Doesn't it interfere with the main signal?

They ought to consider filling the void left by KBPI being downgraded to a crappy little translator.

Instead, I suspect this station will flip to a retro pop hits format, hip-hop / rhythmic, or variety hits.

There's very little they can do that will make any kind of ratings dent

There is a massive hole in the Denver market for a Latino Mix type station. When going through Phoenix, LA, Vegas and then through Denver, the hole is very evident.

31.8% of the Denver population is Hispanic or Latino of any race.

It is jaw dropping that there is no station in that format in that market.

Not intimating that 107.1 should flip to that format as I am not aware if their signal targets that demographic.

The stunting is saying "Denver is getting back what it's been missing" on Thursday. Perhaps a return to Rhythmic Classics.

That would surprise me a bit, only because it would cannibalize the numbers of Jammin 101.5 to an extent.

Of course, 101.5 plays little in the way of hip hop material, so music wise, there would be little overlap. Hip-hop throwbacks would also appeal to a broader demographic range (read: more Caucasians) than 101.5, too.

Maybe if they aired a talk format with shows not currently syndicated in the denver market.

Such a waste.. Denver has enough of that
