Cumulus is heavily promoting their new podcast, "The Marketplace Minute." It airs occasionally on their stations (at least on the internet streams) but the idea is apparently to get people to remember to listen to the podcast 3x a day. I'd say good luck with that!
The promos say things like, "When you're packing for a day on the road, tell Alexa, "Play The Marketplace Minute." When you're waiting for your food to grill, tell Alexa, "Play The Marketplace Minute," etc.
This makes no sense to me for several reasons.
The stock market is extremely fluid but the podcast is only updated 3x/day. Would, "The Traffic Minute," updated 3x/day ever fly?.
Investors have apps on their phones where they can access market news and check their portfolio positions up to the second.
The podcast also has other issues. For one, there's too much audio processing and no de-breathing, so the script readers sound like they're gasping for breath.
So what's the point? How long will this thing last? Time will tell.
