Nexstar Launching Sports Wagering Diginet

Nexstar Media Inc. and SportsGrid Inc., a streaming video network that provides extensive coverage of sports betting for all the major sports, today announced a multi-year agreement to launch SportsGrid Network, a diginet devoted to sports wagering and fantasy sports.

Beginning Sept. 1, SportsGrid Network will be distributed on nine digital subchannels licensed to Nexstar in nine major U.S. markets: San Francisco; Washington; Tampa, Fla.; Portland, Ore.; Nashville; Norfolk, Va.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Knoxville, Tenn.; and Des Moines, Iowa.

On September 1st KRON4 San Francisco one of the Nexstar owned stations will air SportsGrid Network on their subchannels along with KOIN-TV, WKRN, and WHO-TV.

Also will be on Wood TV .3 which is now Laff until Sep 1 will be channel 193 on Spectrum. It's only going to be on in 9 markets maybe more will be added in the future to other Nexstar TV markets.

KC has a Nexstar station.

But not on WDAF-TV at the moment, at least at launch.

Also will be on Wood TV .3 which is now Laff until Sep 1 will be channel 193 on Spectrum. It's only going to be on in 9 markets maybe more will be added in the future to other Nexstar TV markets.

Wait until Wednesday to confirm that because right now, the only confirmed affiliates for SportsGrid, according to RabbitEars, are KOIN 6.3 Portland, WKRN 2.2 Nashville and WDVM 25.2 Hagerstown.

And WDAF is at limit of adding another Sub Channel because has 5 but Nextgen TV should a major station go past that and even if another TV station was available in area Nextstar at limit would have to sell one of its other station. Because they are hosting HSN for KMCI maybe it can go on that channel or even Charge or Rewind TV,
Also on Rabbitears site so far 17 Affiliates most are in Oregon but are repeaters maybe.

Interesting that Hagerstown would be one of the first affiliates, since Maryland doesn't allow sports betting yet. Maybe Pennsylvania and West Virginia viewers are being targeted.

A majority of states, including several quite populous ones (California, Texas, Florida, Missouri and Ohio), still do not have legal sports betting, and New York only has it at tribal casinos with no mobile/online betting options. Texas and Missouri will be very tough nuts to crack, given strong religious-based opposition to gambling, and it's a given that Utah, Alaska and Hawaii will never legalize sports betting, but the trend is moving toward legalization overall. I'm in Connecticut, where sports betting could be starting up by next weekend or Sept. 9, when the NFL season begins. It was not set up in time to handle wagering on the handful of college football games played last Saturday.
