KGOL TYPO?

Industry pages are today announcing the sale of KGOL and we had already talked about that here.. but they have it at a price of $125k Now we all know that would not be correct.. right?

No papers filed with the FCC as of yet. Yours is the first listing a sale price. That may not be a typo depending on how the deal is structured. There are so many ways a sale can be structured and what that sales price actually includes. Might he be paying a lease on the tower site? The list can go on in almost a limitless fashion.

The deal was filed with the FCC yesterday. My report came exclusively from said filing... $125,000

Actually it has been filed. Saw it yesterday...

The APA attachment is at the bottom.

Re-engineering a complicated and directional 50 kW AM is going to be very expensive, but Mr. Siddiqi did get a very good deal for a major market license.

I checked the FCC site and nothing is showing up there. Not strange since it can take a couple of days before the filing appears. I want to see the purchase agreement.

All sale filings are now in the LMS database. If you're looking at a daily digest those are always a week or two behind.

The deal does not include the land on which the towers currently sit. The station has to be moved.
Just wanted to clarify that this is hearsay heard from another engineer. The same person told me that 1180 will move to Aldine area. I know very little about a.m. oh, but was wondering if this station could share the tower with Kilt 610?

The raw land where 1180 currently sits on is worth many times what the transaction price is, so there is really no way it could be included in the deal. Maybe it is hearsay, but it is also kind of obvious.

I just quickly glanced at the antenna arrays. With a large enough check and a willingness to downgrade from the current 50 kW pattern, I would guess that diplexing 610 and the daytime of 1180 is theoretically possible. Depending on the the extent of power reduction on 1180 to make the contour work though, they might need to also find a new CoL.

If you check Google maps street view of the KGOL site, you will see the for sale sign in front of the property. Moving and re-engineering a 50kw AM will be costly, even if they are able to diplex with another site.

As pointed out on the other KGOL thread, the transmitter is at a major intersection along the Grand Parkway that is about to be overtaken by urban sprawl. The Google Earth image was taken a couple of years ago; I would think the land has been leased by the station for some time now. Was probably inevitable a move would happen as the land is certainly more valuable than the station.

I drive by from time to time. There's a new subdivision that is about to start building houses to the west on 99 (It's that exit that literally lead to nowhere for the longest of time). That KGOL location is prime for more retail and fast food restaurants (because we can't seem to get enough of those in this town). The area is definitely becoming a "Food Desert" now that it is being urbanized.

The land has definitely outgrown the dinky AM license it houses.

There is a Kroger at I-69/US-59; 5 minutes away on the tollway.

Access to the area was difficult before the tollway opened. The transmitter site is now on one corner of a freeway intersection; perfect for a gas station, bank, fast food, or strip mall (or a combination of these uses).

There was a story on the KPRC-TV morning news yesterday about the adjacent segment of the tollway opening in Spring 2022. Ironically, it will be adjacent to the KTRH transmitter site!

Lance linked the asset purchase agreement in his post, which states that the station has to move and the buyer is responsible for moving it. So that part isn't hearsay.
